OUR VETERANS ARE DYING CAN YOU HEAR THEIR CRIES?
By Donna Jones Bowles

Our veterans are dying; can you hear their cries?
With every minute that goes by; it feels like a year to them.
Do you know why?
A Veteran is lying in the cold, no food, no friends, just all alone.
Stripped of his medals of pride, he cries, “God why has my country forsaken me!?”
He’s without a home, abandoned, so all alone…
Do you know why?
He sits in isolation on the ground that he once knew; the forsaken soil of his land.
He bleeds in colors of red, white and, blue.
He is invisible to all who pass him by.
A cup sits beside him to remind them, but it is only filled with tears of blue.
A space in time so long ago; a memory lost, a soldier used and, now let go; no longer is he important, to those who stand to gain.
His home was America.
The truth he now knows.
He now sits in isolation on the land where he sacrificed it all.
Bleeding colors of red, white and blue…
Ashamed, broken, hurting, he has no home.
He moans…
Can you hear his cries?
Or are you just going to walk on by?
Most people do.
Don’t let another day turn into a year.
Our Veterans are dying.
Can you hear their cries…?
