My daughter Candice is so thoughtful. She is always buying, or makeing me unique gifts that are usually a treasure of nostalgia.
She gave me this necklace last year while I was in Portland Oregon. It appears to be one made in the 70’s.
She gave it to me for no apparent reason other than, she thought I would love it, and of course like everything she gives me or makes me it’s sincere and precious to me.
I miss Portland and I miss my children. I have two daughters and four grandchildren that reside there, and I’m certainly overdue for a visit.

The book, “Return to Love,” by Marianne Williamson, has profoundly influenced my life. It’s changed my entire perspective on religion vs.spirituality.
If anyone is struggling with religion this book will help improve their tolerance and love, for not only themselves, which is first foremost of importance, but their view of the entire world.
The importance for taking responsibility to enhance our own spiritually is the key to living a fulfilling life. We can retire from blaming religion for our lack of unwillingness to learn how we can, “return to love.”
Dawna Bowles
Here are a few excerpts from the book,
1.) Love in your mind produces love in your life. This is the meaning of Heaven. Fear in your mind produces fear in your life. This is the meaning of hell.
2.) “…a miracle is a reasonable thing to ask for.”
3.) “Do what you love.
Do what makes your heart sing.
And NEVER do it for the money,
Go to work to spread joy.”
5.) “When infants aren’t held, they can become sick, even die. It’s universally accepted that children need love, but at what age are people supposed to stop needing it? We never do. We need love in order to live happily, as much as we need oxygen in order to live at all.”

Smile in spite of yourself, even if it hurts.
Today I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn’t find any new prospects to photograph.
I went to Old Navy, and on my way out the door, I looked up and saw these mannequins smiling. My first thought was, “how funny.” I then said if they can smile being stuck up there, then I’m sure I could smile and get unstuck from down here.
It worked. ~°•○☆”smiles”☆○•°~
I had to smile in spite of myself.
I snapped a few shots then left the store with a sincerity of heart, and a fresh perspective on life.

Reminiscent of times before my record player stopped playing my song, merry-go-rounds, carousels,
and I, the forgotten ferris wheel stopped turning and left me on high…
I found this image on line and it made me feel like I was able to touch a profound moment from the past.

Is when you give up.
There are moments, sometimes hours, and at times, days that I feel like I can’t, or maybe that I don’t want to continue to do the things I love, and I feel like giving up.
I know this mindset is nothing but a self-defeating attitude that is a result of looking back at my life, and wishing that I would have done things differently.
I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, for a self confirmation in order to rid myself of pride and futile thoughts.
“I give up all hope of having a better past.” There.
“Now, I must do the thing I think I cannot do.” –Eleanor Roosevelt-
The only one thing that I know to be effective at times like these, is to make a gratitude list for everything I have, and forget about everything I want.
My serenity is directly proportional to my ability to, “Accept the things I cannot change, and the courage to change the things I can.” –Bill W.-
I won’t give up, I will continue to be present in my life, and love myself, in spite of myself.
I pray that His will be done, refusing mine.
True serenity is to find peace in the midst of the storm.
I’m grateful that I am willing to see that I’m stuck, and I am able to take action in order to rid myself, of self.
I will never give up on love.
GOD help me this day.

Robin Williams, what can we say, you are gone and so is a part of us.
Today’s memory saddens us.
Yesterday’s memories will keep you with us forever, always encouraging our hearts to smile.
Your astounding ability to nudge us out of our comfort zones, has changed us profoundly, and because of it, we are wiser.
You were a lighthouse, when we needed guidance and understanding of our world.
You made us laugh in spite of ourselves.
You gave us a uniqueness of vision that could never be surpassed.
You touched our hearts, and made us feel love, no matter how hard we tried not to feel.
You turned our sadness into endless smiles.
You challenged our minds to ponder.
You were a bridge that we needed to cross.
You were our reflections when we were afraid to see.
Robin Williams, you are loved, and missed beyond measure and,
I can’t say it any better than Don Mclean.
“The world was never created for anyone as beautiful as you.”
Your friend and greatest fan always,
Sincerely,

Blowing In The Wind – by Bob Dylan
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man ?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.
Yes, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea ?
Yes, how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free ?
Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn’t see ?
The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind
*Bob Dylan*
I thought I would start macraming again. I have been perfecting this art since 1970.
It’s been a few months since I have indulged myself, for I have been ill; however, I’m better now and I have missed tying my hemp knotts terribly!
I absolutely love the ocean and anything that reminds me of it.

Before I retire for the evening, I thought I would share something that Is important in regards to judging others.
Many years ago when I was a substitute teacher for the Matanuska Susitna school district in Palmer Alaska. I remember this particular morning that I was sent to Burchell High School.
This school was a continuation school. It was a school for troubled teens, if you will, or maybe teens with behavioral problems.
When I arrived at the school the attending counselor greeted me and asked if I had ever worked with these kinds of teens.
I told him I had, and his reply was music to my ears. He said, “I just want you to know that all of our students are not bad, to the contrary, they’re all good students, they have just made some bad choices.” He went on to explain that our job was to get them back on track. I was instructed to gently guide them and to always treat them with respect.
The staff and the students worked in unison. It was, and still is one of the finest schools I have subed for in my life.
It just goes to show that society’s opinion isn’t always accurate.
“Those who deserve love the least need it the most.”
When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of a hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of a hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love.
Love is something you and I must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world…
But with love, we are creative. With it, we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others.

This evening we went for a bike ride.
I was beckoned by a lovely train that was passing.
I got off my bike and walked slowly towards the train and watched it disappear into the sunset.
I felt as though I was an innocent child again. I decided to walk on the tracks in reminiscence of my childhood when a walk on the railroad took all my troubles away.
We started walking and it felt as though I was tapping upon piano keys. I could almost hear the melody of their great history along with my nostalgic experiences as a child.
With a gentle breeze caressing my face as I danced along, it felt absolutely amazing and greatly peaceful.
My memories as a child includes my brother Joe and I. We would wait on the tracks patiently for the train to come so we could watch the colorful box cars pass and receive a wave, and a smile from the conductor on the caboose.
He left us with a feeling that not only were we alright, but the entire world was alright and a peaceful place to live.
My love of trains is a therapeutic melody to my soul, and a healing for my spirit. I must admit that I believe I fell in love with locomotives as a child and we will be in love till the day i die.
Once again love wins.

We are the world
We are the people
We are the voice
We are the peace
We are the love
Let us all rise above
Above the hate
Above the fear
Above the wars
Removing all
The wasted years
We hold the power
Let us all rejoice
We are the music
We are the voice
Awake my brothers
My sisters too
From nations far
A renaissance of love is ours
We are one family
Beneath the stars
Tonight’s celebration
The choice is ours…

Like a soul without radiance.
As a heartbeat without rhythm.
A violin absent of its bow.
A visionary with hollow eyes.
His dream apparently has died.
Comparisons of contrast as, brass resounding in the wind.
Is a nuisance of its tone.
Incongruity is the equal of its sum.
Resonance of harmony, is of course an impossibility.
As a conductor of a symphony directs with amputated arms.
So is a society blinded by demise.
Humanity is hopeless, filling rivers with her cries.
As history repeats a babylonian fall.
A Holocaust of America.
Will be remembered in her majesty.
Only as a “pop” on every Facebook wall.

Even if you take two steps forward and one step back. You are still moving forward. Happiness is not a destiny but a form of travel. We must give up all hope of having a better past. We are powerless over yesterday’s mishaps, and we can’t control tomorrow, for it’s not here yet. The only thing we have power over is today and ourselves.
We can’t change people, places, or things. We can only change ourselves and our perspectives.
Look for the good and it gets better, look for the bad and it gets worse.
We can’t control the wind, but we can adjust our sails. If we just do the next right thing we’ll conquer today. We all only have today. Today is a gift that’s why they call it the present.

Levi,
May God’s bless and keep you always,
May your wishes always come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.
